The oil will finish much earlier,if food crises is not handled well,as hunger will drive the world mad before oil finishes, today if you see terrorism is in countries, where there is no food security,so first food then oil.

I agree that the UK oil will last for several decades to come. But, I think 2095 is streaching it a bit. Perhaps 2060 would be more realistic. The UK industry will long outlive the oil in this country. But ...

Alternative energy

Even when alternative energy sources become much more widespread and viable, we will still use a lot of oil. In the future as new discoveries and technologies become available, there will be more money for alternatives. This will cause a snowball effect and there may be a quick move away from oil. But "quick" is a relative word. To you and me quick could mean a day, a week or perhaps a year depending on the context of the subject. In the energy industry quick is fifty to sixty years. Therefore, oil is something that people will be consuming in massive quantities for most of this century at least.

Index

By 2018 the demand for oil will exceed the supply! Oil will break USD$200 per barrel by 2014! The age of cheap oil is long over. That means even bigger wages for those working in the industry. It does also mean that money will pour into alternatives. Market forces will try to find other ways. However, only when the alternatives become really strong will the oil industry companies and employees stop vigorously rubbing their hands. That will not happen for some time to come. Exciting Times Ahead The future for the oil industry is black! Blacker than black. Lots and lots of black, black gold! Just like the past. ... believe the hype that the prices of fuel are high because supplies of oil are running out. They are not. The prices of oil are high because that makes more money for all the companies. ... not quite that simple but the price has nothing to do with current supply. Take the long established UK North Sea sector for example. Initial estimates were that the oil would run dry in 1995! Well all this time after that year they still ... taken even half the oil from the fields they know about. So why was the initial estimate 1995 when it should have been much later. In fact every decade that goes by the end of the oil date moves on roughly about the same time or more. Some estimates put North Sea oil running out in 2095! So with all this talk of environmental energy solutions, clean fuel, electric vehicles and all things greener than oil ... pretty much means ... what does the future hold for the ...
Lpg gas

LPG is a well established alternative fuel for many applications including vehicles. The UK is one of the largest producers of this new and increasingly popular fuel. Until recently, LPG was burned off as a non viable waste by product. The now valuable gas is produced in the production and during the refining process.

Oil price rise

As the price of oil continues a long term upwards price rise, we are seeing more and more old oil fields coming back into production. This is happening all over the world. For example, take a look at ... USA state Oklahoma In 1930 the state produced 271 million barrels of oil by 2005 output was down to just over 60 million. Since 10 refineries were closed in the last 2 decades of the 20th centuy and there is no desire to open new ones, a new pipeline is being built to carry the extra gas and oil to refineries in other states or Canada. In the 21st century natural gas sales have overtaken oil in Oklahoma. Some estimates show that there are over 4 times as much natural gas still underground compared to what has already been extracted. Exploration in natural gas is over 4 times more likely to result in a viable field discovery. Gas seems like a safer bet for investors and oil companies. As usual, there are many other subsidiary businesses that benefit from the resurgance in the industry.

Uk sector

Why was the UK oil estimated to run out in 1995 and not the more likely ... For several reasons the UK government has always been concerned with the possibility of Scottish Independence ... This concern was heightened with the discovery of large oil fields in Scottish waters. In the 1970s the UK economy was in a terrible state but oil became ... saviour. It fueled the boom times that has brought the UK back from the brink. Without oil the UK economic story of the last few decades would have been very different. After many years exploring the North Sea, companies are now increasingly turning to the Atlantic side of Scottish waters in the quest for new fields. The road from Fort William to the fishing port of Mallaig has been given a major upgrade, part financed by an oil company. This area is seen to become an important regions in these new West coast oil sectors.
